The deposit builder tool shows either how long it could take to build your deposit based on your monthly savings, or how much you may need to save each month to reach your target by a chosen date. It works for both percentage deposit goals and fixed deposit amounts.

Can I enter either a percentage or a deposit amount?

Yes. You can enter your target deposit as a percentage of the property price or as a fixed cash amount. If you enter both, the calculator uses the deposit amount.

Does the calculator include interest on savings?

No. The tool provides a straightforward illustration without factoring in savings interest, inflation or changes in income. It is designed to give a clear starting point before speaking with an adviser.

What information do I need to use the deposit builder?

You will need the property price or target deposit, your current savings and either your monthly savings amount or the timeframe you want to reach your deposit goal by. The tool calculates the rest automatically.

Is this tool enough to assess affordability?

No. This tool focuses only on deposit saving. Mortgage affordability depends on income, credit profile, commitments and lender criteria. An adviser can provide tailored guidance based on your full circumstances.
