Overpayment

As a mortgage is secured against your home, it could be repossessed if you do not keep up the mortgage repayments.

Important information
If you are not on a Standard Variable Rate (which typically has no restrictions on overpayments), there may be limits on how much you can overpay each year without incurring an Early Repayment Charge. Please refer to your latest mortgage offer or speak to your lender for full details.

To calculate potential savings, this tool makes the following assumptions:

  • The monthly payment amount is based on the details you’ve provided.

  • The same monthly overpayment will be made throughout the remaining mortgage term.

  • The interest rate will remain the same for the duration of the mortgage.

  • Each month is treated as equal length, so monthly interest calculations are simplified.

  • Repayment figures are rounded to the nearest £1 for display purposes.

  • Any reduction in the mortgage term is shown in years and months, rounded accordingly.

This calculator is intended as a guide only. It does not provide guaranteed figures for interest saved or time reduced on your mortgage. It also does not factor in any early repayment charges and is based on a capital repayment mortgage. This tool should not be used to compare mortgage products. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
